The Dinner Party
Regional Host
Sam Charleston, now 30, lost her father Robert just six days before her 26th birthday in 2014.  After several months of swing-and-miss efforts to find a fulfilling, comfortable outlet for her grief, she discovered The Dinner Party - an organization geared towards people in their 20s and 30s who have experienced a significant loss in their lives. Through the Dinner Party, Sam has been hosting monthly potluck dinners in her apartment for over three years, joined by the most thoughtful, insightful, engaging, wise and wonderful grieving young adults she has ever had the pleasure of knowing.  A Philadelphia native, she works for the University of Pennsylvania and loves her city with all its grit and glory.   Sam finds the greatest joy from her family (most notably her two tiny nephews) her dear friends, library books, fierce females who are changing the world, good music, spectacular food, and travel.  She strives to cook as confidently as her father did, read as many books as he did, and embody a fraction of the grace, humility and strength he displayed in his too-short time on earth. Robert was and remains the greatest love and light of her life.
